THE CHALLENGE
Camp Chi, a prestigious overnight summer camp located on a 600-acre lakeside campus near Lake Delton, Wisconsin, sought to implement a reliable camp paging system to enhance daily communication and deliver instant emergency notifications. The goal was to improve safety, streamline camp operations, and ensure efficient communication across both indoor and outdoor areas of the expansive property.
Given Camp Chi’s expansive layout and varied terrain, a wireless PA paging system was the ideal solution to avoid underground cable deterioration and eliminate the challenges of trenching or hardwired installations. The camp paging system was designed to ensure full-site coverage and support critical communication needs with the following key capabilities:
THE SOLUTION
Visiplex’s custom-tailored camp paging system was designed specifically to meet Camp Chi’s unique communication needs, combining indoor wireless audio-visual PA speakers with high-powered outdoor PA horn speakers strategically installed across key locations throughout the camp’s vast 600-acre property.
This advanced camp paging solution also featured a two-way radio interface, allowing camp personnel to make live voice announcements directly through the paging system, and an SMS messaging module to send wireless text alerts from the camp’s main entrance or security gate.
The entire camp paging system was fully wireless, eliminating the need for costly and impractical wiring between camp zones. Each PA speaker required only a standard AC outlet or could operate via an optional compact solar power kit, making installation simple, flexible, and ideal for remote outdoor environments.
THE RESULTS
The implementation of the Visiplex wireless camp paging system significantly improved Camp Chi’s daily communication and emergency preparedness across its 600-acre facility. Key outcomes included:
