Manufacturing PA System
A CASE STUDY
Wireless PA System for
SpaceX Manufacturing Campus

THE CHALLENGE
SpaceX, a global leader in aerospace and space transportation, required a reliable communication upgrade for its 314,000-square-foot Starlink satellite development and manufacturing campus in Redmond, WA. The objective was to implement a manufacturing PA system that was simple to install, semi-portable, and easily expandable, capable of supporting both daily live voice paging announcements and facility-wide emergency notifications. The new system needed to deliver dependable, campus-wide coverage while meeting the following essential communication requirements:
THE SOLUTION
Visiplex’s wireless manufacturing PA system was implemented at SpaceX’s Redmond manufacturing campus using a centralized wireless paging base station located in the management office. This base station provided real-time monitoring of wireless wall-mounted panic buttons and enabled live voice paging announcements throughout the facility.
A network of indoor and outdoor wireless PA horn speakers was installed across the campus to ensure loud, clear audio coverage, even in high-noise manufacturing environments.
The wireless panic buttons were programmed to remotely trigger the paging base station to play up to four distinct, pre-recorded emergency messages, allowing staff to initiate the appropriate response instantly during critical situations.
Thanks to its modular wireless design, the manufacturing PA system was installed by SpaceX’s in-house technical team without the need for complex wiring. This architecture also allows for seamless future expansion to accommodate evolving facility needs.
THE RESULTS
Optimized Manufacturing PA System Performance – The wireless manufacturing PA system was successfully implemented across the SpaceX manufacturing campus, significantly improving site-wide safety, operational efficiency, and communication. The solution enhanced daily workflows and emergency readiness while delivering the following key capabilities:
