Manufacturing Voice Paging & Alert System

A CASE STUDY

Wireless Voice Paging System for
Daimler Truck’s Manufacturing Plants

Daimler Truck's Manufacturing Voice Paging System

THE CHALLENGE

Daimler Truck North America, a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks, school buses, and commercial vehicle technologies, required a reliable communication upgrade for two of its manufacturing plants (440,000 SF and 325,000 SF) in Gastonia, NC. The goal was to implement a Manufacturing Voice Paging system that is simple to install, easily expandable, and capable of supporting both daily live voice paging announcements and facility-wide emergency notifications. The new manufacturing paging system needed to provide dependable, plant-wide coverage while meeting the following critical communication requirements:

  • Delivers live or pre-recorded voice messages for clear, effective, facility-wide communication.
  • Audio-Visual alert devices to improve visibility and support ADA-compliant notifications.

  • Activate pre-recorded voice message with color coded visual alerts for different emergency events.

  • Provide automatic, schedule-based break bell alerts to boost productivity and keep shifts on time.
  • Wireless indoor and outdoor PA horn speakers to provide reliable, facility-wide audio coverage.
  • Full battery backup to keep all system components operational during a power outage.
  • Scalable, modular architecture to allow future system expansion without re-wiring.

THE SOLUTION

Daimler Truck's Manufacturing Voice Paging System

Visiplex’s wireless manufacturing voice paging system was deployed in both Daimler Truck’s Gastonia manufacturing facilities using a centralized wireless voice paging base station located in the management office. Each base station provides accurate, time-synchronized break bell alerts to boost employee productivity, triggers pre-recorded voice messages for specific emergency events, and supports live voice paging announcements throughout the plant.

A network of indoor/outdoor wireless horn speakers paired with multi-color beacon lights was installed across each facility to deliver high-intelligibility audio and clear visual alerts—using designated light colors for different emergency conditions in loud work areas. Audio-visual wireless PA speakers were added in office areas, break rooms, and restrooms to ensure complete coverage.

All system components feature built-in battery backup to remain fully operational during a facility power outage. Thanks to its modular, wireless design, the manufacturing voice paging system was installed by Daimler Truck’s in-house technical team without complex wiring, while its scalable architecture allows seamless future expansion as each facility’s needs evolve.

THE RESULTS

Optimized Manufacturing Voice Paging System Performance – The wireless voice paging and alert system was successfully implemented across both Daimler Truck’s manufacturing facilities, significantly improving site-wide safety, operational efficiency, and communication. The solution enhanced daily workflows and emergency readiness while delivering the following key capabilities:

  • Live public address voice announcements can be initiated facility-wide.

  • Customizable, multi-lingual, pre-recorded voice messages for diverse workforce communication

  • Automatic, schedule-based, audio-visual break bell alerts boost employee productivity.
  • Audio-visual alerts improve visibility and support ADA-compliant notifications.
  • Wireless indoor and outdoor PA speakers provide reliable, facility-wide audio coverage.
  • Modular, expandable system design allowing quick addition or relocation of components without new wiring.
