WAREHOUSE PA SYSTEM
A CASE STUDY
Wireless PA Paging System for Amazon Warehouses and Fulfillment Centers

THE CHALLENGE
Amazon, Inc., a dominant force in the online retail marketplace, required a scalable warehouse PA system to support live voice paging, scheduled break bell alerts, and emergency mass notifications across more than 150 fulfillment centers—ranging in size from 500,000 to over 2 million square feet.
The objective was to deploy a wireless communication solution that could seamlessly manage daily announcements, shift change notifications, and real-time alerts during emergency events. Each warehouse PA system was expected to deliver the following core capabilities:
THE SOLUTION
Visiplex’s warehouse PA system was implemented using wireless paging base stations strategically positioned at security desks and manager workstations. The system featured a combination of indoor and outdoor wireless PA speakers, installed throughout the facility—including key areas such as break zones, designated smoking areas, muster points, and parking lots—to ensure full coverage and operational flexibility.
To enhance visibility and meet ADA compliance standards, the solution was expanded to include wireless LED message boards and multi-color beacon lights, providing high-visibility visual alerts across the entire facility.
During daily operations, the system automatically broadcasts scheduled break bell and shift change alerts through the PA speakers, while the LED message boards display synchronized time and high-priority facility messages for clear communication.
The Visiplex PA system was installed either by the facility’s in-house maintenance team or by certified Visiplex technicians, with minimal disruption to ongoing warehouse operations. Final testing, commissioning, and on-site training were provided by Visiplex to ensure reliable performance and seamless day-to-day functionality.
THE RESULTS
Optimized Warehouse PA System Performance – Visiplex’s wireless warehouse PA system was successfully deployed across more than 150 Amazon facilities, significantly enhancing site-wide safety, operational efficiency, and real-time communication. This scalable solution improved both daily workflow coordination and emergency preparedness by delivering the following key capabilities:
