School Intercom PA System

Stone Elementary School, part of District #4 in Addison, IL, partnered with Visiplex to implement a reliable school intercom PA system. The district required a solution that could provide clear overhead paging, two-way classroom intercom communication, and easy-to-program, schedule-based class bell alerts. In addition to daily communication needs, the school intercom PA system had to include wireless panic buttons for initiating automated, school-wide lockdown alerts, helping enhance safety and emergency preparedness. The district also sought a cost-effective, wireless solution that eliminated the need for cabling or trenching between buildings, while offering a modular and expandable design that ensured easy installation, low maintenance, and long-term flexibility.

Visiplex proposed a fully wireless school intercom PA system that not only provides two-way voice communication but also supports overhead PA paging, scheduled bell alerts, instant emergency notifications, and school-wide lockdown alerts. The solution was customized to meet the school requirements and included: A master paging base station in the main office for centralized control, a high-power paging transmitter to provide complete RF coverage across the campus, two-way intercom stations for each of the 35 classrooms, enabling direct communication with the main office, six wireless ceiling speakers and two outdoor horn speakers for clear overhead paging indoors and in the schoolyard, and wireless, wearable panic buttons to trigger instant, school-wide emergency alerts.

To maximize cost efficiency, the classroom intercom stations were designed as multi-functional units, offering two-way communication, PA messaging for both emergency and daily announcements, and playback of automated class bells.

This proposed school intercom PA system is fully wireless, eliminating the need for expensive cabling or trenching between buildings. Each intercom station and PA speaker requires only a standard AC outlet, making installation simple, scalable, and budget-friendly.

The wireless school intercom PA system was installed at Stone Elementary School, delivering clear PA voice paging to every classroom and schoolyard area. The system significantly improved daily communication efficiency while enhancing overall school safety.
